Now that the weather is starting to warm up in many places across the U.S., most of you are probably working outside to get your lawn in great shape and perhaps you’ve even taken a few lawn care tips from my friend Charlie.
Whether you have a manufactured or modular home, I’m sure that you want a scenic home lawn that looks great to you and your neighbors. Here are a few lawn care tips that will help keep your home lawn nice and healthy!
When It’s Growing, Mow It
It probably seems obvious, but mowing your lawn is one of the best ways to keep it healthy.
If your grass is not growing too quickly right now, then a weekly trim might be all that is necessary. As it starts to gradually grows faster and thicker, you can begin mowing more often and even lower the blade setting…BUT never cut it too low.
Now I’m not talking about letting your grass get out of control or anything like that, but often people think that it looks better the lower you cut it, but cutting your grass too low is unhealthy for it and can damage your lawn.I would suggest only cutting 1/3 of the grass blade height.
There are even a couple advantages to keeping it higher – less water will evaporate because there is not as much sun hitting the ground, keeping your lawn moisturized. It will also provide shade for the soil which will act as a natural weed killer, and it will help prevent weed seeds from sprouting.
Keep Your Mower Blades Sharp
Mowing with a dull blade can do serious damage to your lawn. If it is not sharp enough then it will not be able to cut the grass, instead it will tear it.
Feed Your Lawn
This is one of the easiest ways to keep a healthy lawn and make your manufactured home's exterior appear beautiful, but is also one of, if not the most, important things to do.
When to fertilize your lawn is vital and right now your grass is trying to grow which uses a lot of energy, so feeding it is crucial to having a well-fed lawn so it is able to grow full and strong with deep grown roots.
Make Your Grass Green
Everyone wants a green lawn, the greener the better. Make a routine, or schedule, for your lawn care duties and stick to it.
If you have sprinklers then you can use them, but if you don’t have any then you will need to water the lawn yourself. It’s best to water it in the morning before it gets too hot so the water does not evaporate.
If you do that each morning around the same time, then your lawn will be on its way to being healthy and green. Don’t be afraid to water it later on in the day if it’s hot out and it looks dry.
By now I hope that I’ve made it clear that the key to green grass around your manufactured or modular home is taking care of it and making sure that it’s healthy.
